Tambuzi Wins Best Soil Health Management at the KFC Pinnacle Sustainability Awards 2025

9 Oct 2025
Tambuzi Garden Roses is proud to announce that we have been awarded Best Soil Health Management at the 2025 Pinnacle Sustainability Awards, hosted by the Kenya Flower Council.
As a Kenya Flower Council Gold Standard farm, this recognition is a testament to our long-standing commitment to growing flowers in harmony with nature, guided by the principle of protecting and continually improving soil health for the benefit of People, Planet, and Profit.
At Tambuzi, we believe that healthy soils are the foundation of sustainable farming. Our initiatives go far beyond traditional practices, focusing on innovative, regenerative approaches such as:
- Vermiculture composting, where red wriggler worms recycle rose waste into nutrient-rich compost and “worm tea” to create living soils.
- Biochar production, turning rose by-products into carbon-rich soil conditioners that help sequester carbon, improve fertility, and fight climate change.
- Black soldier fly larvae frass, converting organic waste into a powerful natural fertilizer that boosts plant health, reduces reliance on chemicals, and cuts landfill waste.
- Organic composting, mulching, and bio-fertilizers, which enhance soil structure, retain moisture, and reduce erosion.
- Sustainable manure and biogas slurry use, ensuring nutrients are recycled while reducing dependence on synthetic inputs.
These efforts have already shown measurable impact, including increased yields, reduced use of inorganic fertilizers, improved soil organic matter, and significant carbon sequestration.

Speaking on the award, Christine Shikuku, General Manager, said:
“This award is a recognition of our team’s dedication to farming that not only produces world-class roses but also restores and enriches the soil for future generations. We are committed to leaving the land better than we found it, proving that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand.”

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners of the Pinnacle Awards. Each recognition reflects the incredible progress Kenya’s floriculture industry is making toward sustainability, innovation, and community empowerment.
Kenya’s farmers are at the forefront of sustainable agriculture, demonstrating that our flowers are not just a symbol of beauty, but also of resilience, environmental stewardship, and hope.
