The 10 to 4 Mountain Bike Challenge is a competitive mountain biking experience which winds its way through rich forests, bush habitats, wheat farms and settlements. Starting at 10,000ft on the stunning Mt. Kenya moorlands, the route descends through farms, villages and the Ngare Ndare forest, eventually ending near Borana Lodge at about 4500ft.
Tambuzi sponsored a water point and also donated 25,000 Kenya Shillings towards the conservation effort. The event raises funds for the Mt. Kenya Trust’s (MKT) conservation projects and aims to bring awareness to the important and threatened afro-alpine forest habitat and the need to conserve it. The funds from the event will be primarily spent on tree planting to initiate a new MKT reforestation project and to establish nurseries for indigenous trees in the Mt. Kenya National Reserve with the help of the Kenya Forest Service and local communities. Funds will also assist the MKT Patrol Teams, Borana Educational Trust, Ngare Ndare Forest Trust and schools in the vicinity of the race routes.
